Honda created a lot of hype in last auto expo by displaying CBR650F. The big dream was the local production for first multi (4 to be exact) cylinder sports bike in India, thus resulting into a very affordable price.
Although the dream is not full filled since later down the line, Honda has back tracked and expressed their plan for starting the sale via CKD (imported as knocked down kit and assembled here). Though Honda still claims their desire to slowly increase the localization from present 5%, depending on user demand and sales figures.
However, the wait for the release at-least is finally over since the big day is scheduled for August 4th, 2015 when they officially launch the bike in India via REVFEST in 8 cities and selected dealership.
The CBR650F is powered by a 649cc, liquid-cooled, in-line-four cylinder engine, pumping out 87PS at 11,000 rpm and 63Nm at 8,000 rpm. Being CKD with just 5% localization, the bike is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs. 8 Lakhs meaning taking it close to Ninja Z800 territory. This would be the only downsize since compare to other 600 / 650 cc offerings like Benelli, Kawasaki and Hyosung products, this bike is more powerful and expected to be better rider friendly as well.
Bookings are now open in selected dealership of 8 top cities for a non refundable Rs. 50,000/- and delivery is expected to start right from August 4th itself.
